10 Most Underrated Albums From Legendary Hard Rock Bands
1. The Hunting Party - Linkin Park
Compared to most other nu metal bands, Linkin Park really beat the odds going into the 2010's. Whereas most other acts fell into obscurity after JNCO jeans started going out of style, these California natives were able to reinvent themselves from the ground up with albums like a Thousand Suns, with songs that drew more from electronic and alternative rock than your average nu metal act. While it might be cool to pull something this off, it doesn't really tell you where to go from there.
Aside from a typical return to roots record on Living Things, Linkin Park's true renaissance came with the Hunting Party, as the guitars came back with a vengeance. Considering Brad Delson wasn't necessarily known for his shredding lead work, this album was a sight to behold, as he wove together different licks together on epics like Guilty All the Same and even some straight ahead punk bangers like on War.
Even though turntablist Joe Hahn takes a bit of a back seat on this outing, the structure of these songs give off faint whiffs of the Meteora era, with songs like The Final Masquerade and Until It's Gone having some strong hooks we hadn't heard since the early '00s. Despite running as far away from rock as possible on One More Light, The Hunting Party was a sure sign that Linkin Park hadn't forgotten their roots as a raw metal band.
