10 Most Underrated Albums From Legendary Hard Rock Bands
7. Done With Mirrors - Aerosmith
At the start of the '80s, it would have surprised absolutely no one if we had never heard about Aerosmith ever again. With no Joe Perry to deliver some prominent guitar licks, Steven Tyler's vain attempts to recapture past glory on albums like Rock in a Hard Place just felt hollow propped up next to something like Toys in the Attic. Hell, even when Joe returned, the fans still weren't having it on Done With Mirrors for some reason.
Despite recapturing that old magic from the early days, fans were treating this with even more disdain than their breakup albums, either leaving it in the dust entirely or moving on to more new and exciting bands like Van Halen instead. What those fans missed out on though might have been the greatest comeback that the Bad Boys From Boston have ever pulled off.
Unlike the usual poppy direction you've heard on stuff like Permanent Vacation and Pump, Done With Mirrors is a return to the down and dirty bluesy rock that Aerosmith were known for in their prime, with Let the Music Do the Talking providing the perfect mission statement for the rest of the album. Who knows? Maybe in another timeline, this may have even been the record that gave Aerosmith their second wind rather than something like Angel or Rag Doll.
