10 Most Underrated Albums From Legendary Hard Rock Bands
6. Too Fast For Love - Motley Crue
The rock mainstream was really ready for hair metal when it first started. While the aftershocks of glam rock had been looming over the rock genre for years at this point, the power behind something like Van Halen and Poison took a few years before really sinking its teeth into the MTV generation. It's a shame that a lot of fans had to miss out on the first steps from Motley Crue on Too Fast for Love though.
From the swagger in their riffs to the intense speed, this is the Crue at their most concentrated, almost going full punk on songs like Live Wire. Compared to some of the other heavyhitters on the scene like Def Leppard or Bon Jovi, this was the first time where the streets of LA started to feel dangerous again, which Guns N Roses were surely paying attention to when they were getting the ball rolling.
Aside from wearing their influences on their sleeves a little too much, Nikki Sixx already had dialed in a great approach to writing songs, with semi-autobiographical tales of excess told through the lens of both KISS and Aerosmith. Whereas most Crue fans would point to something like Shout at the Devil as the real turning point, this pretty much has all of the hair metal attitude that you really need.
