10 Most Underrated Bands Of The '90s

8. Third Eye Blind

In the grand scheme of things, Third Eye Blind aren't technically under the radar by rock band standards. Even some of the most absent-minded music fans can still hum a few bars from "Semi-Charmed Life" if they really wanted to. At the same time, Third Eye Blind still gets marginalized as the band who lives and dies on their "doo doo doos."

Like most one hit wonder acts, Third Eye Blind have the unfortunate reputation of being categorized by their one big song, but they have so many rock gems brewing underneath the surface. Though their debut record sold based on their one hit, other tracks like "How's It Going To Be" and "Graduate" are some of the most hard hitting rock tracks of the post-Cobain era of music. Even on later releases like Blue and Out of the Vein, the band tackled much more mature topics and earned their road stripes as legitimate songwriters.

One of the main reasons why Third Eye Blind probably never got a fair shake was due to their more straightforward rock style. While everyone else was trying to outdo Kurt Cobain or hop on the pop punk bandwagon, Third Eye Blind floated somewhere in the middle, leaving only hardcore fans to feed on their scraps. They may not have earned as many awards as their peers, but the band's first run of albums have some all-out classics you haven't heard yet.
