10 Most Underrated Classic Rock Albums

4. RAM - Paul McCartney

Everything in rock music seemed to spread out once the Beatles' broke up. After the Fab Four had given us some of the best rock music ever created, their solo outings all seemed to take a different course. Out of all the former Beatles though, no one seemed to change more than Paul McCartney.

After releasing a home recording-esque debut, McCartney's RAM doubled down on the rustic stylings with an album inspired by life in the countryside. This was certainly not bad, but it was a bit jarring come from the same mind as the Beatles' multilayered masterpieces. All of a sudden, there were no gimmicks to hide behind with just Paul at the mic. Even if he didn't have his old musical brothers by his side, this album is still amazing.

The countrified feel of something like "Heart of the Country" works perfectly with Paul's voice, as well as the title track and "Eat At Home." Paul also finds time to work in some of his best ballads, from the multi-faceted "Uncle Albert/ Admiral Halsey" to the Brian WIlson-inspired closer "Back Seat of My Car." RAM has had its fair share of critics since its release, but it has gone from being an odd detour in McCartney's career to the crown jewel that eased you into his solo work.
