10 Most Underrated Cover Songs In Hard Rock

3. 2000 Man - KISS

KISS were getting themselves into some major hot water once they released "I Was Made For Lovin You." The song's disco beat and poppy melody made it the polar antithesis of what fans had come to this band for. With it being the first track on 1979's Dynasty, fans needed a palette cleanser to kick things back into high gear, and Ace Frehley knew just how to do it.

As everyone was combing through material, Frehley suggested doing a version of the Rolling Stones's "2000 Man" as a way to get the band back to their rocking roots. The original version of the song was taken from the Stones's Their Satanic Majesties Request, which never really got a fair shake in its time. With Frehley behind the mic, the song became a great way to clear the air for the rest of the record, which would be much more energetic than the pop-centric lead single.

Along with being a great rock and roll tune, the lyrics about a man living in the future and being consumed by technology seemed to fit perfectly with Frehley's sci-fi persona of the Spaceman. These may have been dark days for KISS, but this tune showed that they still knew how to rock.
