10 Most Underrated Fall Out Boy Songs
7. Homesick At Space Camp
As nostalgic as it makes many of us feel, 2003's Take This To Your Grave was a debut filled with growing pains.
Fall Out Boy were a mere two years into what would become a long, successful music career, and before their tenure as one of pop-punk's elite offerings truly kicked into high gear with From Under The Cork Tree, the four-piece had to carve out a niche within the genre.
A significant bright spark of the release sat directly after the first three singles, as track 5 goes largely unnoticed after following the superb Dead On Arrival, Grand Theft Autumn and Saturday.
With lyrics that are at home on any 2000's teen's MSN profile, Homesick at Space Camp dives into themes of loneliness and begrudgingly leaving those you love. It's a tune that was surely inspired by leaving home to go on tour, and as such it effortlessly captures the band's naivety of just how unfamiliar their surroundings would become.
Fundamentally, Homesick at Space Camp is a song about change, and captures a band in transition. It feels like a true starting point for the band that would - at one point or another - become your favourite.
