10 Most Underrated Fall Out Boy Songs

5. 27

Breaking the mould of lengthy song titles, the aforementioned 27 seems to be a reference to the club, which includes members such as Janis Joplin, Amy Winehouse and Kurt Cobain, each tragically passing before their 28th birthday.

The song itself doesn't get much more cheerful, as the introspective lyrics leave much to be desired in the jolly department. It explores the potentially destructive lifestyle of modern music artists, and rarely shy's away from the dangerously seductive nature of rock and roll. 27 undoubtedly highlights some of the mental and physical pitfalls that the band has to navigate.

Immediately kicking off with a clap-a-long drum beat and tinny guitar riff, the arrangements match the abrasive lyrics perfectly. As the song develops into its pre-chorus, similarities are forged between it and Chris Cornell's Bond offering You Know My Name. The likeness is far from forgery, as the tune is never stripped of that magic, Fall Out Boy feeling.

Around the 2-minute mark, an uncommon guitar solo emerges, showcasing the talents of long-time lead guitarist Joe Trohman. It balances the song beautifully, serving as a natural bridge to the tune's final chorus.

27 isn't really indicative of the Fall Out Boy of old, and that makes it special.
