10 Most Underrated Fall Out Boy Songs
3. Thriller
"Long live the car crash hearts."
Leaning into heavy guitar riffs that are quickly overtaken by Stump's impressive range, Thriller mimics heavier contemporaries like A Day To Remember, but as soon as the vocals emerge, the tune settles into its stature as a top tier Fall Out Boy song.
Ambitious title aside, Thriller feels like a sharper, more refined Fall Out Boy to the one we had become accustomed to with 2005's From Under The Cork Tree. Being the opening track on their new project Infinity On High, it was crucial that the song made a good first impression, as the expectations this time around were lofty thanks to the success of previous works.
Thriller flows beautifully, fusing fuzzy guitars with a somewhat simplistic but always enjoyable melody that reaffirms Fall Out Boy's mastering of their pop-punk craft. The Infinity On High album gets more experimental (and longer in song titles) as it goes on, but the decision to open with something safe was an excellent one.
Thriller kickstarts Fall Out Boy's golden age in style, firmly solidifying them as "poster boys for their scene".
