10 Most Underrated Guns N' Roses Songs

1. Right Next Door To Hell - Use Your Illusion I

When Guns announced that they were going to release a double albums' worth of all new material, they pretty much set themselves up with a lot of pressure. Since they were going to be stretching out into different territory and pull out the big guns (so to speak) for the record, there was a lot riding on what we were going to hear. Once we heard the opening of Use Your Illusion I though, Guns didn't so much open the door as they did blow it off its hinges.

Inspired by Axl's problems with his neighbor of all things, you wouldn't get that from the attitude in this song, as Axl puts on his greatest vocal affectation to sound like he's about to pop a blood vessel in his head at this person. This is also one of the most punk tinged takes on rock music you could have asked for at this point, with a riff that sounds like something Johnny Thunders would have played if he were there at the genesis of rock and roll.

Also, you'd be lying to yourself if you didn't get chills whenever you hear Axl scream "F*** YOU" at the midpoint of the song, giving way to one of Slash's most underrated guitar solos. Right Next Door to Hell might not be on the level as Welcome to the Jungle as far as album openers, but this is the best we could have asked for after Axl said he wanted to bury Appetite with these albums.
