10 Most Underrated Guns N' Roses Songs
3. Mr. Brownstone - Appetite For Destruction
You can't really script a better definition for rock and roll than Guns N Roses. Ever since their inception, there was never mistaking them for the clear evolution of some of the classic bands of the '70s like Aerosmith, only with a few more badass tricks up their sleeve. Like all rock and roll though, even the Guns knew that it all came back to the sounds of the blues.
While it's a stretch to call Mr. Brownstone uncelebrated in the Guns catalog, it does have the misfortune of being sandwiched in between the classics. When playing through Appetite for Destruction, people seem so focused on songs like Paradise City and Welcome to the Jungle that they forget about this song, which is a pretty nasty bit of rock about dancing with your addictions a little too close to the flame.
Being inspired by Izzy and Slash's bouts with heroin addiction, this is also one of the grooviest riffs that the band have ever made, locking in with the bass drum to create the same type of infectious groove that Bo Diddley made popular back when the blues was just starting to morph into what we know now as rock and roll. To every band that tries to do a throwback, you'd better be listening. This is how you you pay tribute to your influences correctly.
