10 Most Underrated Guns N' Roses Songs
4. Dust N Bones - Use Your Illusion I
When talking about the greatest members of Guns N Roses, Slash and Axl Rose tend to get a brunt of the praise. Despite not necessarily being partners or anything, the star power behind both of them onstage were what made them a rock and roll force to be reckoned with in the first place. If there was ever someone left out of that conversation though, it's Izzy Stradlin.
While never as competent a soloist as Slash, Stradlin was always more of a songwriter behind the scenes for the group, with Dust N Bones being one of his best. Even singing it as a sort-of duet with Axl, this is the kind of street gutter song that let you know that the changes coming from the Illusions weren't going to be too different than what you were expecting. Being informed by bands like Aerosmith and the Stones, Stradlin paints a dark picture of life on the street, as this man starts losing his mind and having his life ripped apart.
And it's almost sad to see how much art tends to mimic reality in some ways, with most of the people looking to make a name for themselves in LA end up falling apart under the pressure of everything. This is definitely a dark song for Guns to tackle, but it's probably a lot closer to reality than some people realize.
