10 Most Underrated Hard Rock Albums Of The 2000's
4. All Hope Is Gone - Slipknot
You may wondering why one of Slipknot's #1 albums actually ended up being underrated. From a pure sales perspective, All Hope is Gone sold like gangbusters, becoming one of the biggest records of 2008. However, this record tends to get undersold by both fans and the band themselves.
When band members Jim Root and Joey Jordison look back on this record, they tend to bring up how awful the album sessions were and how disjointed the entire recording process was. Clown even went so far as to say it was a cruel joke that the album got to #1 since he thought he couldn't give his all to making the record.
On the other hand, this album is probably the best combination the band could have hoped for of melodic tracks and metal bludgeonings. Sure, the track list can be a bit ballad heavy with songs like "Snuff" and "Dead Memories," but it does get evened out by songs like "Gematria" and the skull-crushing title track. It also doesn't hurt that this album has God's (or Satan's?) gift to headbangers everywhere with "Psychosocial," whose drumbeat and chorus have aged gracefully. Slipknot may be known for heavier efforts than this, but what we do have is still more than worth your time.
