10 Most Underrated Hard Rock Frontmen

7. Lzzy Hale - Halestorm

As hard rock entered the 2010’s, many were wondering where the metal side of the spectrum was headed. Sure, there were still bands like Mastodon and Slipknot doing great work, but where were the down and dirty rockers who could reach beyond the seasoned veterans of the genre? In the thick of it all came Halestorm, whose singer is one of the greatest voices going today.

Throughout every Halestorm song, Lzzy Hale’s voice always cuts through the mix with the same grit than any guitar could muster. While most of the band’s songs are incredibly heavy, there’s also a bit of a punk attitude in Hale’s delivery that is reminiscent of older belters like Joan Jett and Lita Ford. Aside from pulling off epic vocal runs, Hale also is a phenomenal guitarist, whose lead breaks featuring everything from metal finesse to even harmonizing with herself while she sings.

Hard rock may be looked at as being on the downturn in recent years, but Halestorm is one of the key bands who are pointing the way forward for the genre, as they continue to knock it out of the park on albums like Into the Wild Life and Vicious. In a music scene dominated by a heavy male presence, Lzzy Hale is proving to be more badass than any other frontman going today.
