9. Flash Of The Blade

'Powerslave' is, pound-for-pound, the greatest Maiden album. 'Piece Of Mind' might be loved by the fans, 'Number Of The Beast' the most iconic, but neither are as consistent or focused as this stone-cold classic.

Sitting in the middle of it is this tense and kinetic headbanger, put to brilliant use in the 1985 horror film Phenomena. The lyrical imagery of warriors and swordplay, combined with a cutthroat, driving rhythm section, is simply heavy metal incarnate.
