10 Most Underrated Megadeth Songs

5. 502

If there's one thing one should never, ever do in life, it's driving under the influence.

This infamous track from 1988's 'So Far, So Good... So What!' is about as tasteless as Megadeth have ever been. The shocking nature of presenting a drunken police chase (and subsequent crash) as a thrill ride coupled with a truly ear-shredding guitar solo make this an unforgettable listen. '502', it should be noted, refers to the United States' police code for driving while intoxicated.

While the tracks kicks off at a fast and furious pace, it never lets up and, like a Jack Russell on amphetamines, actually grows more hyperactive with every passing second. It's an exhausting, white knuckle headbanger that takes listeners to a very dark, heart rate-boosting place.

At the time of release, 'So Far, So Good... So What!" was considered a supreme effort from the thrash icons. Unfortunately, its critical reputation has soured somewhat in more recent years. Many have compared it unfavourably to the group's previous LP, 'Peace Sells... but Who's Buying?' and dismissed the songs as trying too hard to be edgy.

In turn, wild tracks like '502' have grown to be oddly forgotten in more recent times despite being superb showcases of the band's unwieldy and wild early days. It's a shame as this track is a natural mosh pit starter to say the least.
