10 Most Underrated Mötley Crüe Songs

1. Danger - Shout At The Devil

Part of the appeal behind Motley Crue in the early days was just how dark they seemed compared to the other fun loving bands of the day. The similarities between the Crue and someone like Van Halen may have been as clear as day, but you weren't going to see Van Halen putting a pentagram on the cover of their album like on Shout at the Devil. Like all of the great hard rock acts before them though, the Crue knows that the one thing scarier than the devil is what goes on in the seedier sides of town.

At the very end of the record, Danger is the kind of song that a track like Starry Eyes had prepared us for, with a much more slick groove and a riff that seems to be pulled from the crypt. This is one of the few cases in rock and roll where the lyrics end up matching the vibe of the song perfectly as well.

The chorus of "you're in danger...this is Hollywood" isn't really that thoughtful when you look at it on paper, but when you hear it in the context of the music, it feels like you've been thrown into a back alley and are either going to get shot down, mugged, be spiritually awakened, or all 3 at the exact same time. As much as a band like Motley breathe sex, drugs, and rock and roll, they're not lying about the baggage that comes with it.
