10 Most Underrated My Chemical Romance Songs
6. Vampire Money - Danger Days
Though the tag of emo rock has followed My Chem around for years, it's not like the shoe doesn't fit them or anything. From one song to the next, there's a lot of darkness in these lyrics and songs that would fill up many an angsty middle schooler's notebook back in the day. Not all bands can stay serious forever though, and MCR certainly do have their playful side as well.
Since the album of Danger Days pretty much ends on a solid note with the Kids From Yesterday, Vampire Money is a lot more tongue in cheek than we've ever seen My Chem take on, with the whole thing opening up like some modern update on Ballroom Blitz. Considering how much they've profited off of the emo gimmick though, this is the first time we start to see the band use those tropes against themselves.
Though Vampire Money sounds like it could be a badass name for some fictional rock band, a lot of this song is about just how artificial the rock scene had gotten at that point, with bands being more open to sell their songs for car commercials. Hell, if MCR decided to hop on the Twilight fandom at the time, they would have been considered legends among their audience. They hung onto their integrity though, and managed to bring down all of their competition while they were at it.
