10 Most Underrated Pearl Jam Songs

6. Nothing As It Seems - Binaural

It's about time that we all admit that Binaural was a bit of a mixed bag. Though the idea of using a different approach to recording songs was certainly a good idea, having only a handful of decent moments on this record made for an album that was a lot more sleepy that it really should have been. That's not to say that it didn't have moments where that new recording style worked.

Starting off with an amazing Mike McCready lead part, this is one of the most cinematic cuts on the record, with the whole thing sounding like you're hearing the band right in front of you playing the song. Compared to the usual formula that goes into Pearl Jam songs though, there are a lot more parts of this that are reminiscent of something that Pink Floyd might have done, as Eddie talks about not feeling quite at home in the world he lives in.

This also deserves kudos for one of the most passionate performances that Mr. McCready has ever laid down in his guitar career. Taking cues from Stevie Ray Vaughan to David Gilmour, this is the kind of god tier solo that deserves to be on the level of the greatest of all time. Hell, this is a song that you could argue is so good that it makes the rest of the album feel like a let down by comparison.
