10 Most Underrated Radiohead Songs

7. Lift - OK NOTOK

It never feels like any proper Radiohead record is really finished. Since these are working musicians who never find time to rest in between their many different projects, the only reason records exist is to have a timeline of where they were at a specific moment. Hell, even when they take their sweet time making a song, it still becomes one of the greatest points of their career.

Along with the flawless tracks on OK Computer, the new expanded version shows a handful of songs that didn't make the cut for Radiohead's masterpiece, including a runthrough of the song Nude which would find its way onto In Rainbows. From the opening notes of Lift though, you definitely get the vibe that you're listening to an OK Computer song, with lyrics about getting detached from reality and being subservient to the machinery around you, from being stuck in a lift to smelling the air conditioning.

This is also one of the band's greatest exercises in dynamics, with not a lot of movement going on in the melodies but having everything explode in the chorus, almost like they took the feel of the climax of Fake Plastic Trees and amplified it that much more. Now that we have all of the outtakes and B-sides out in the world now, the only question that most Radiohead fans have now is why the hell OK Computer wasn't a double record? Because if they had released these all at once, it would have been even more legendary.
