10 Most Underrated Rock Albums Of All Time
7. One Hot Minute - Red Hot Chili Peppers
At the midpoint of the '90s, it seemed that the Red Hot Chili Peppers had come to an end right as they were getting started. After finally breaking through to the mainstream on Blood Sugar Sex Magik, guitarist John Frusciante abruptly quit the band due to his struggles with addiction and uncomfortable relationship with the band's newfound fame. The band didn't waste any time finding a new guitarist in Dave Navarro, but their next step up to the plate with One Hot Minute left many fans cold.
The question is...why? Granted, Frusciante had a hand in classics like "Under the Bridge" and "Give It Away," but Navarro had impressive chops as well, as he wails on songs like "Shallow Be Thy Game" and the title track. Sure, there are songs like "Pea" that sound really awkward in retrospect, but there are more introspective songs at every other corner.
This is also one of the most rocking album in the Chili Peppers canon, with songs like "Warped" and "Deep Kick" showing the band getting almost metal in places. This album might have been a departure from the funk gods we had gotten used to, but don't let that trick you into thinking that this album isn't an undisputed classic.
