10 Most Underrated Rock Songs Of The 2000s
7. Blackbird - Alter Bridge
For a band that is able to sell out stadiums around the world, it's hard not to see Alter Bridge as an act that's still on the fringes. Whether for better or worse, there's no replacing a good portion of the rock world for seeing these guys as just Creed with a better singer, which could be both a blessing and a curse. Though these might be the same players, you wouldn't find Scott Stapp being able to touch something like Blackbird.
Written in the vain of long epic songs from the glory days of hard rock, this track is an experience in every sense of the word, as Mark Tremonti's guitar sets the scene for us. Once the intro starts to pick up steam, the rest of the band coming in hits you with the force of a wrecking ball, especially when it gives way to the drawn out riffs coming from both Tremonti and Myles Kennedy playing in harmony.
It also goes without saying that Kennedy absolutely wipes the floor with Stapp's delivery, having the same force and power that both pays respects to the old school screamers while also having its own distinct character. It may have been cheeky taking a title from a Beatles song, but when the result is this amazing, you're more than worthy to do it.
