10 Most Underrated Rock Songs Of The 2000s
8. Attack - 30 Seconds to Mars
It's been a sad reality to come to terms with where 30 Seconds to Mars have gone in the past few years. Ever since their very public disagreements with their record company when making the album This Is War, Jared Leto has seemed more focused on movies, aesthetics, and having a lot more ego than he has any right to flaunt in this area. As much as he might like to strut his stuff, nothing can take away from the awesome early days of the band.
For most of the fairweather fans, Jared's only real contribution to the rock world have been songs like the Kill or From Yesterday, which shows his massive pipes out in full force. Whereas those singles have earned their spot in rock history, Attack is one of the most hardhitting songs of the group's entire career, almost as if Jared Leto is fronting a much more hardcore act.
Across its few minutes, Attack is practically a punk song put through the group's space rock lens, bringing an ethereal synthesizer to offset the amazing chugging chords and screams from Jared. In interviews since, Leto famously remarked that this would be a song that his character of the Joker would be into. Given how much of a dud it was with audiences, it's clear that Jared might have better taste in his own music than he does in comic book roles.
