10 Most Underrated Slipknot Songs
3. (Sic)
It's always important for a band to put their best foot forward when starting out. From the very first second that someone puts on your record, you have the opportunity to give listeners a hint at what it to come in the first track. Though some bands get too concerned and end up fumbling it, "(Sic)" is almost flawless as the song that started it all for Slipknot.
After the intoning loops of the intro track bleed through, those detuned guitars from Mick Thomson and early guitarist Josh Brainard are enough to cut through cement.
As Joey Jordison thunders away on the drums, you can practically see the music going into the stratosphere before we get the very first shout of Corey Taylor. While we have gotten used to Taylor's use of screaming and singing, this first opening blast showed that he could still get the job done with just pure aggression.
His scream has since evolved from the first record onward, but the youthful exuberance when singing "This Is a War!!" can light a fire in the hearts of any metalhead. Slipknot had a long way to go before reaching the top of the metal heap, but this one song presented them as more than up to the challenge.
