10 Most Underrated Twenty One Pilots Songs

9. Formidable - Scaled And Icy (2021)

The band's latest album – Scaled and Icy – is far from their best, but it certainly wasn't a disappointment. There are plenty of fun tunes, and 'Formidable' is one of many standouts.

The song eases you in with a catchy instrumental that transitions into a simple vocal melody from Joseph. It's a fairly low-key performance, but Dun's choppy drumming gives the verses plenty of rhythm.

Lyrically, the song addresses Joseph's relationship with his wife and the concept of growing old together. The exploration of this theme is delivered with plenty of subtlety, which stops the song from sounding too cheesy or on the nose.

The acoustic guitar is also a nice touch. It gives the music a by-the-fireside feel that's hard to find in any other song by Twenty One Pilots. Whilst this more relaxed tone isn't ideal for lighting up stadiums, 'Formidable' is still one of the band's most replayable tunes.
