10 Music Artists That Won't Defend Their Own Songs
8. Creep - Radiohead
It almost feels like a mistake how Radiohead blossomed into one of the biggest bands in the world. From the minute that Thom Yorke came onto MTV sporting a bright blonde hairdo singing the song Creep, this felt like the kind of band that was meant to be a one hit wonder, riding the wave of angsty music and just having a fluke hit to show for it. Radiohead were in it for the long haul though, and the more they innovated their sound, the more they came to resent their classic song.
Granted, none of the band were really all that jazzed about Creep when they were first cutting it either. After being convinced to record it after their label found out it wasn't a cover, the rest of the band even tried to sabotage the recording, with Jonny Greenwood's iconic guitar chunks actually being a way to mess with the sound. Once it became a defining track of the '90s though, Radiohead really pulled back on it, only playing songs from their later catalog like Kid A or OK Computer and almost trying to write the song out of history entirely.
It's not just the band that's a little bit done with the song either, with some fans even finding the song almost too primitive when you look at the rest of their catalog. For all the disgruntled fans that cry 'sell out' whenever their favorite band hits it big, Creep might be the one song that's almost too basic for Radiohead to care about it anymore.
