10 Music Side Projects Better Than The Main Band

9. Slash's Snakepit

Most of the magic that made Guns N Roses legendary seemed to be snuffed out the minute Slash decided to call it quits. The man was practically the co-frontman next to Axl Rose, leaving the band to spiral and Axl himself to lose his damn mind before resurfacing with Chinese Democracy.

Even though most fans didn't check in on Slash until Velvet Revolver, he still had an ace of his sleeve with his own Snakepit.

Across both of the albums that Slash's Snakepit have put out, you can tell that this is the music that Guns N Roses should have been making after Appetite for Destruction.

As much as songs like November Rain hit you in the chest whenever they come on, this is closer to the gnarly punk rock energy that made the band so electric, only given Slash's trademark bluesy flavor into the mix.

It doesn't hurt that he surrounded himself with some top notch players as well, with everyone from Mike Inez from Alice in Chains subbing in on bass to bringing back Guns favorite Matt Sorum on the drums. Some of these songs might come off a little frayed around the ends, but this is still one of the greatest jam sessions that our top-hatted master has ever been a part of.
