10 Music Side Projects Better Than The Main Band
6. Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds
Anyone even slightly in the know about Oasis probably could've seen their breakup coming from a mile away.
Considering the Gallaghers' disdain towards each other through the years, seeing them finally unravel before a gig in Paris was what everyone expected at this point. Although a certain magic may have been lost that night, it's nice to know that Noel was able to harness it back for his High Flying Birds.
Across his three solo records, Noel's material feels like the logical extension to what he was doing toward the end of Oasis' run, turning in some baroque pop for his first outing before delving into the dance pool on modern cuts like This is the Place or Black Star Dancing. That doesn't mean Noel forgot how to rock out though, with songs like Lock All the Doors sounding like some long forgotten tunes that could have appeared on a Definitely Maybe B-side.
Above all else, Noel actually seems like he still enjoys the craft of making music, having fully come into his own as a frontman and looking to write one more great song.
Even though an Oasis reunion will always be on the table, why the hell would you want that when you have stuff like this coming down the pipeline?
