10 Music Videos That Were Actually Made By Famous Directors

10. Martin Scorsese - Bad (Michael Jackson)

Martin Scorsese is regarded by many as the kingpin of the crime film genre, his best-known works including Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Goodfellas, Casino, Gangs Of New York and The Departed. He's responsible for the astounding career of Robert De Niro and for totally changing Leonardo DiCaprio's. A typical Scorsese film features gruesome violence, excessive profanity and brutal power struggles. What they don't normally contain is sweet dance moves. Yet that's exactly what his video for Michael Jackson's Bad does. Shot and released in 1987 (the year before he directed The Last Temptation Of Christ), the music video for Bad tells the story of two rival gangs who settle their disagreements not through typical Scorsese bloodshed, but via an elaborately choreographed dance-off. Of course, it wouldn't be a Michael Jackson video without his famously slick moves, but it's interesting to see Scorsese's antagonistic tropes subverted through music. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dsUXAEzaC3Q
