10 Music Videos That Changed Music Forever

9. Strawberry Fields Forever - The Beatles

In the grand scheme of music production, music videos are still a relatively new way to get your point across to the listener. Though many point to the surge in MTV's popularity as the jumping off point for the medium, the Beatles proved they were ahead of the game way back in 1967.

After coming off the road, the band decided to spend the rest of their professional career in the studio without having to face the commitments of a rigorous touring schedule. Instead of just waiting for the record to come out, the band wanted to leave their fans with a bit more and started to make what was then known as "promotional films." These would offer a glimpse into the sonic headspace that the band were attempting to put you into on the actual song.

Out of all the great "performances" in these videos, "Strawberry Fields Forever" is probably the best marriage between song and video, with each abstract image and pastel-colored sequence encapsulating the hazy vibe of the song. This video not only gave the music video medium a jolt, but also showed the more surrealistic aspects of the Summer of Love. "Strawberry Fields Forever" is already one of the band's greatest songs, but the video only enforces just how strong the tune is in the right context.
