10 Music Videos That Changed Music Forever

5. Humble - Kendrick Lamar

Kendrick Lamar has been one of the greatest artistic minds going in the music world today. From his conceptual albums to his jaw-dropping live performances, Lamar is a true musical visionary who can do it all. When it came to do promotional material for his last album Damn., Lamar thought it was time to take a different approach to his music video style.

The previous videos Lamar had released were much more in tune with his rootsy style, with lots of grainy shots and very simple premises. There's certainly beauty in these audio/visual collages on Lamar's previous output, but the actual execution of these seem tame in comparison to "Humble." Contrary to its title, this was one of the first videos of Lamar as the seasoned rapper who was willing to put anyone who stepped to him in their place. By subverting the idea of humility, Lamar created a track that called out other artificial artists while also giving himself praise for staying true to himself.

The video is also impressive for its camera work, with intense visuals from Lamar submerged in a crowd to him being depicted at the Last Supper. Everyone knew of Lamar's immense talent, but this video showed that he was so much more. We had a giant walking among our ranks.
