10 Musical Reunions That Were A Disaster

4. Led Zeppelin

In the early '70s, you couldn't script a better band than Led Zeppelin. Taking the best of the bluesy traditions happening in the British rock scene, Jimmy Page managed to create some of the most indelible riffs of the century with Robert Plant out front, John Paul Jones on bass, and the monster John Bonham behind the kit. However, things took a bit of a drastic turn when Bonham was found dead from alcohol poisoning in the early '80s in Page's home.

For all intents and purposes, the real progression of Zeppelin ended that day, with the group deciding that no one could possibly replace Bonham behind the kit. As time went on though, the Zeppelin crew found themselves crossing paths every now and again on the rock scene, with Plant and Page coming together for one collaborative record in the '90s.

At the start of the new millennium though, fans were awestruck when it was announced that Zeppelin were returning for a one-off gig, with Jones, Plant, and Page playing alongside Bonham's son Jason to fill out the rest of the sound. Even though the seeds were sown for a reunion tour, Plant eventually returned to the confines of his solo career, not wanting to live in the shadow of his former band for the rest of his life. Though Jimmy Page remains a guitar god and Jones has had stints in Them Crooked Vultures, the possibility of anything called Led Zeppelin surfacing feels more and more like a pipedream now.
