6. Amy Winehouse
It's often said that great things have to fall apart to make way for other great things, and this could not be more true in the case of tragic musical heroine (...no pun intended) Amy Winehouse. Sadly taken from us in 2011 at the age of just 27, Winehouse was a pre-eminent, natural-born vocalist and an immeasurably charismatic entertainer. Fearless and experimental, she let out the troubles of her chaotic personal life and addictive personality through her soulful and emotionally charged music, and has become a major influence for a huge number of artists who followed her. It's rare to uncover an artist as unique and un-tampered with as Amy Winehouse was. Unorthodox and boisterous, she lived a conflicted and dangerous life, but she was committed to sharing her gift with the world - her attitude, songwriting style and fashion have become iconic over the years, and her second album 'Back To Black' has become a modern classic. Since her death just two years ago, she's been credited with paving the way for unconventional women to achieve mainstream success, and it truly is an enormous shame that we'll never get to find out what could have come next for Amy Winehouse.
