10 Nineties Songs That Sold Over 1 Million Copies
3. Celine Dion - My Heart Will Go On
Love her or hate her, there's no way anyone can discredit the amazing work Celine Dion put into 'My Heart Will Go On'. Even without its Hollywood link it's likely the Canadian singer would have done well with the single. Composer James Horner did an incredible job creating an emotionally charged instrumental, designed to be a motif through the film.
When it came to creating a full track to release alongside Titanic, Horner had trouble getting the piece off the ground. James Cameron was against the idea, but lyricist Will Jennings pushed on regardless. Even when it came to approaching Dion, the singer was skeptical about performing on the piece. Having not long performed on the soundtrack for Beauty and the Beast, she was concerned about having two tracks associated with cinema so close together.
Thankfully all parties saw the light and came together and it is Dion's best performing track to this day. Selling over 18 million units worldwide, the soundtrack was certified triple platinum in the UK, shifting 1.8 million units.
