10 Often Forgotten Nu Metal Bands

Many are still some going strong.

The baggy jeans, wallet chains, facial piercings and those black shirts with the flames on them. Don't lie, we all had a few of the items on the nu metal list.

And though it's an era fondly remembered for the juggernauts of the genre, the ones still going strong today, let's not forget the rest. Sure, they may not have hit the mainstream success like Deftones, Limp Bizkit or Linkin Park, but they're still going.

Chances are you've probably forgotten a few, if not most, of the bands on this list. But I bet if you were to hear one of their tunes on a club night, you'd know the words.

Although, just because some of these bands are still going isn't necessarily a good thing. As to some, nu metal died years ago, and a lot of bands change their styles to remain current. It's just... it doesn't always work.

Instead, we'll be looking at when they were good, back in the heyday of Kerrang and Scuzz! TV. Prepare to cringe at the clothing styles of the time, though.

Get your spiked bracelets at the ready, as we look at a handful of nu metal bands you'd probably forgotten, or at least wish you had.

10. Powerman 5000

If the first thought that popped into your head when you saw this wasn't Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2, where were you?!

Powerman 5000 (or PM5K, which sounds like a weapon from GoldenEye), are what Rob Zombie would be if he went towards nu metal than hellbilly rock. Why Rob Zombie, you ask?

Well, PM5K vocalist Spider One is his brother, you see.

Whilst they never hit the same success that the former White Zombie frontman has, PM5K are still going to this day. Though they may have started as a more industrial rock band before the switch to the nu, their still now is more electronica based... think Combichrist, that kind of thing.

But without a doubt, When Worlds Collide is their most recognisable song. Not only for the above reason, but because you can't hear the clap without doing it yourself. Yeah, take that, Enter Shikari. These guys did it first.

Also, for you keen eared, you may remember a certain metal cover of Frankie Goes to Hollywood's "Relax" at the end of Zoolander.

That was these guys.
