10 Often Forgotten Nu Metal Bands

1. Incubus

I know it seems obvious to put Incubus on here, but a lot of people still forget their early days.

It may have been Make Yourself, with powerhouse singles like Pardon Me and Drive that catapulted Incubus to mainstream success, before settling into the mellower styles of Morning View onward. Instead, let's go back before that.

After a lacklustre opening with Fungus Amongus, it was EP Enjoy Incubus and debut major label album S.C.I.E.N.C.E that marked the Calabasas lads as nu-metal stalwarts.

Combining Brandon Boyd's funk-based lyrics with that of turntablist DJ Lyfe (before being replaced by DJ Kilmore shortly after the album's release), S.C.I.E.N.C.E was as nu-metal as could be.

Tracks like Vitamin and A Certain Shade of Green showed a band that evolved from wanting to sound like Primus, Mr. Bungle and Red Hot Chilli Peppers (their words) into a genre that favoured heavier riffs and lyrics.

S.C.I.E.N.C.E may not have reached high status on release, it was only after Make Yourself that new fans (like me) looked back at what brought them there.

It's a lot better than their new stuff, I can tell you.
