http://youtu.be/acK0KH2uJGc Biggest Hit: Good (1995) "Hey, we should listen to that one 'a-wah-ah' song by...that one band." That's how most people refer to this song today. Better Than Ezra's debut, Deluxe, remains one of the best alternative rock albums of the 90s. And though it had a slew of popular songs--including "In the Blood" and "Rosealia," which both charted in the US--there's no getting around the fact that "Good" is the New Orleans band's defining moment. It's the highest charting song in their 20-plus-year career, but they've actually had 4 songs reach the Billboard Top 100, which makes the "one-hit wonder" label hard to swallow. Ezra has softened its edges a bit in recent years, delivering a more pop-oriented sound, but they have yet to release a mediocre album. They've proven that a little polish isn't necessarily a bad thing. With all its dance-pop aspirations it would be easy to consider 2014's All Together Now a severe departure from their alt-rock origins. The thing is, their music has always had a deeper groove than that of their 90s peers, so a song like "Dollar Sign"--which samples Redbone's "Come and Get Your Love" and even features a rap breakdown--doesn't sound out of place. It's just a band having fun. And it's infectious. Proof They Still Rock: Crazy Lucky (2014) http://youtu.be/KnjKzwJceug Are there any other one hit-wonders we missed? Let us know in the comments!
