10 One-Hit Wonder Bands From The 90s That Still Rock
10. Eagle-Eye Cherry
http://youtu.be/Nntd2fgMUYw Biggest Hit: Save Tonight (1997) With a raspy voice akin to Ben Harper and a sound that encapsulated nearly everything that was right with 1990s rock music, Eagle-Eye Cherry's "Save Tonight" became as inescapable as the herpes virus. Even if it lay dormant for a couple weeks, it was only a matter of time before it popped up on the airwaves again. And again. And again. Unfortunately, Eagle-Eye Cherry (the lead singer's honest-to-goodness birth name) couldn't escape the chokehold the song had on his career. The rest of Cherry's debut, Desireless, was much smoother and more soulful than "Save Tonight," which may have bummed out listeners. Future releases shifted to straight-up rock songs, trying to give the people what they wanted and recapture the same attention "Save Tonight" had garnered. Listeners were no longer interested, however, and 2001's incredible Living in the Present Future went largely unnoticed. One decade and one slightly mediocre album later, Cherry came out swinging with Can't Get Enough, one of the best power pop albums of 2012. It sparkles, it shimmers, it grooves... it's a bona fide classic. What it lacks in experimentation, it makes up for with expertise and panache.
