10 One-Hit Wonder Bands From The 90s That Still Rock

6. BoDeans

http://youtu.be/mpv8prvZufk Biggest Hit: Closer to Free (1996) No other band on this list has been active for as long as the BoDeans. While most of these groups were cutting their teeth when they released their most popular single and/or album, the Wisconsin-based BoDeans had already been at it for a full decade when "Closer to Free" hit the airwaves. The BoDeans ramped up their popularity when they shifted out of the roots rock genre and into a pop-rock sound for their 1993 album Go Slow Down. At a time when angst-ridden alt-rock ruled the radio, "Closer to Free" was a breath of fresh air. Aside from being one of the hardest-working touring bands in the world, the BoDeans might have the most underrated catalogue on this list, simply from the sheer volume of it. 11 albums and just as many singles, with no sign of them decreasing their output any time soon. The group's post-2000 releases have been some of their best. Returning to their roots rock origins, 2008's Still is an album chalk full of tracks inspired by Tom Petty and John Mellancamp. Actually, it would be fair to say that modern BoDeans sits just below modern Tom Petty in overall quality. And that's far from a bad thing.
