https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DL7-CKirWZE Sure, New Radicals sounded like a bunch of pensive white boys who were trying too hard to sound threatening on their debut single. ("Come around, we'll kick your ass in!" remains one of the most unintentionally hilarious lyrics of the modern age.) But dammit, New Radicals were tight as hell. And their one and only album, Maybe You've Been Brainwashed Too, was an album that stood out from the muddled pop-rock bands of the time. They had a weirdly sexy vibe in most of their songs, incorporating a lot of classic rock elements and 70s soul into their melodies. And, in a weird twist for the typically downtrodden alt-rock of the 90s, they always sounded...happy. They went on to have moderate success with a follow-up single, the piano-driven "Someday We'll Know," but the band dissolved quickly afterward, with frontman Gregg Alexander saying he "lost interest in fronting a one-hit wonder." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ff0wgizErKQ
