10 One-Hit Wonders Who Deserved A Second Hit

9. Wild Cherry

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qe1ScoePqVA Even though the band's most famous hit became a rallying cry for the dorkiest of all Caucasians, Wild Cherry had an undeniable knack for crafting deliciously tight groove. There were certainly better funk bands than Wild Cherry, and better funk songs than "Play That Funky Music," but that shouldn't take away from their craftsmanship. Equal parts Sly Stone and Hot Chocolate, there's no denying that they had enough soul and swagger to carry even their more underwhelming tunes. Trying to capitalize on the public's surprise at finding out the members of Wild Cherry were white dudes, they released a follow-up single, "Baby Don't You Know," which was basically a collection of boasts about how they sounded blacker than you'd think. Not surprisingly, it didn't catch on quite as well. But future albums, which kept the funky overtones while splicing in some signature disco elements, should have rivaled The Bee Gees. Instead, they just kind of faded into oblivion. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_eMoRO_qGU
