10 Outrageous Hard Rock Stories

1. GG Allin Sh*t Himself On Stage (On Purpose, And Often)

Reader discretion is advised with this gruesome and stanky tale of underground punk madness.

If you’re not familiar with the work of GG Allin, you are to be forgiven. His poorly-produced and hectic-sounding records were never going to make it into the charts, but he became infamous and something of an anti-authoritarian hero on the New York underground punk scene during the mid-'80s and early-'90s.

Saying this guy was the epitome of punk-rock is an understatement. He took things to the absolute extreme and then went further, with his on and off stage antics enough to make Sid Vicious look like Barry Manilow.

Often performing naked, he would take part in on-stage self-mutilation, get into brawls and punch ups with the audience, and perform sex acts in front of the crowd. In 1985, playing a show in Illinois, Allin defecated on stage for the first time. This would become a staple of his shows going forward, often throwing his excrement into the mosh pits of crazed fans. What a sh*t show...

Towards the end of his life, he made several appearances on sensationalist panel shows, including Jerry Springer. Remember when conservative America was terrified rock 'n’ roll would lead to satin worship, sexual deviancy and pretty much the end of the world? Well, Allin was one of the guys who helped this mass hysteria pick up in the '90s, gathering a cult-like following of alienated youths.
