10 Outrageous Hard Rock Stories

9. Shoving Cocaine Where The Sun Don't Shine

Ronnie Wood joined The Rolling Stones in 1975, but before that he played with a number of other well-known acts, joining fellow former-member of The Jeff Beck Band, Rod Stewart, to form the Faces in 1969.

Members of the Stones were already known for their drug-taking antics, with Keith Richards in particular being a keen enthusiast for consuming a myriad of various substances. God help anyone stepping into this environment who hadn’t already cut their teeth on the drug culture of the day, but this was all in a day’s work for Ronnie Wood.

Like many rock stars of that era, hard living was just another part of day to day life on the road, and the uncomfortable details of Wood's escapades were shared In Rod Stewart's 2012 autobiography.

The story goes that after a long period of dedicated cocaine consumption, Ronnie Wood ended up with a deviated septum. He was terrified of causing further damage to his nose, and with Rod Stewart also fearful of ruining his unique singing voice, they arrived at the only logical conclusion. Stop consuming the Colombian marching powder? Or course not…

In his book, Stewart stated, “We started buying anti-cold capsules from the chemist [and] separating the two halves of the capsules, replacing their contents with a small pinch of cocaine.”

And guess where those cocaine capsules ended up? Yep, they made their very own high inducing suppositories.
