10. Eyeconoclast - Drones Of The Awakening (Prosthetic Records)
http://youtu.be/1-YcDbjDrxI The Lowdown: Hailing from Italy, these high octane thrashers take more than a nod from revered act The Crown, even covering the band's song "Executioner" from the classic Deathrace King album with gusto. Speedy, intense and oozing with riffs, this melding of melodic death metal and frenzied speed/thrash rarely lets up and it balls to the walls from start to finish. Released on Prosthetic Records, it seemed an odd label fit and wasn't promoted as much as the label's other high profile thrash monster from Skeletonwitch. The cheesy 80s thrash cover and odd moniker didn't help either, but don't let that make you pass up a sheer thrash force. Recommended If You Like: The Crown, Dew-Scented, Skeletonwitch.

I am metal. I am so metal I ejaculate mercury. OK, love puppies, pro football and my daughter, so how's that for balance? I own a little metal blog called teethofthedivine.com and used to write for Metal Maniacs, Unrestrained magazines and currently help out with Hails and Horns and New Noise magazines. Yeah- I guess I am metal.
