10 Pairs Of Famous Rock Albums That Came Out On The Same Day

1. The Kinks Are The Village Green Preservation Society - The Kinks & The Beatles - The Beatles

Pick any day in the 1960s and chances are you'll stumble upon something monumental happening in music, but that goes double for November 22nd 1968.

The Kinks presented the world with their sixth studio album, the substantially-titled The Kinks Are the Village Green Preservation Society.

Considered now as an early concept album, this was the band's take on conservative British life and the "threat" posed to it by growing American and European influence. Not only did it turn The Kinks into cult favourites, but it's also an important tool in studying youth attitudes towards the previous generation at the time.

Then there's The Beatles, better known as The White Album.

A sprawling, eclectic menagerie of songs written mostly whilst on retreat in India, The White Album is the Fab Four at their most creative; unrestrained by the need to make money or names for themselves, beholden only to their most innate desires to produce music they wanted to hear.

Back in the U.S.S.R, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Blackbird, Yer Blues, Revolution 9, this is just a small sample of the tracklist, which is brimming with classics and hidden gems alike.

If you were buying music on this day, then you were truly blessed.
