10 Pairs Of Famous Rock Albums That Came Out On The Same Day
4. Dirt - Alice In Chains & Core - Stone Temple Pilots
The 1992 film Singles, which depicted the lives of aspiring young grunge fans in Seattle, was the biggest indicator yet that the muddy subgenre was now in the mainstream.
One of the bands on the absolutely stacked Singles soundtrack was Alice in Chains with their song Would? The film came out just a week or so prior to the album Would? was on; September 29th's Dirt.
Though not on the Singles soundtrack, Stone Temple Pilots were another band integral to the ascent of grunge into the public conscious. On the very same day that Dirt hit the scene, the Pilots released their first full-length album, Core.
Clearly there was some sort of rule that meant grunge albums could only have four-letter titles.
Both of these records would go on to become stone cold classics of the era, going 13 times platinum between the two of them and standing forever as a time capsule of an era where loud, sad men with chunky guitar chords ruled the roost.
Thankfully, both acts would use words with much higher Scrabble scores for their next pieces of work.
