10 Perfect 1980s Hard Rock Albums With No Bad Songs
2. Blizzard of Ozz - Ozzy Osbourne
It's about time that we stop looking at Ozzy Osbourne as a punchline for rock and roll. Despite some of the more questionable decisions he has made with being the bumbling father on his reality show, the Prince of Darkness was always one of the most important figures in heavy metal music. Then again, his reputation as a stick in the mud is nothing new either.
When Ozzy was kicked out of Black Sabbath, he was getting the reputation of a has-been who got shown the door for being so messed up on drugs. After coming to his senses though, guitarist Randy Rhoads gave the Ozzman a whole new shot at redemption on Blizzard of Ozz. Having a much brighter tone than Tony Iommi, Randy was the guitar hero that the '80s were looking for, being as much informed by classical music as the traditional rock and roll formula.
That's not to discount Ozzy's contributions here either. Having gone to the lowest lows you can think of as a rock star, his booming voice never left him, and songs like Crazy Train and Mr. Crowley show him sounding more energetic than half of Sabbath's last few albums. Though Ozzy may have been on shaky ground for a while, this was the kind of success that may have even made his former band a little scared.
