10 Perfect 1980s Hard Rock Albums With No Bad Songs
1. Appetite for Destruction - Guns N Roses
It's probably for the best that the Sunset Strip flavor of rock died out in the early '90s. Since most of the new bands were just becoming a caricature of bands like Poison, the scene really needed to die to make way for the alternative revolution that was about to explode. In the thick of it though, there's a reason why Guns N' Roses were able to survive in both decades.
Off the back of Appetite for Destruction, this was the band that might have ultimately killed the hair metal scene without really trying. Though they were brought up in the same clubs that birthed bands like Winger and Ratt, their sound was a lot more edgy, pulling more from the sounds of punk rock and the classic rock stylings of people like Aerosmith. Oh yeah, and the songs kicked major ass, with Slash becoming a guitar god overnight because of the massive riffs on songs like Paradise City and Welcome to the Jungle.
Despite getting a few nicer moments on songs like Sweet Child O' Mine, this album has absolutely no brakes, as it takes you on a crash course as to what its like living as a gutter rat just off of Sunset and hanging on by a thread. Times may be dire, but it might not be the worst place to spend the rest of your life.
