Clairo pretty much appeared out of nowhere in 2017 with her single Pretty Girl but we’ve had to wait for her debut album, Immunity. And where Vampire Weekend didn’t suffer from Rostam’s absence on the aforementioned Father of the Bride, Clairo certainly benefitted from his hand in producing the day-dreamily gorgeous collection of songs about young love and angst.

Bags, the album’s lead single, has one of the most irresistible riffs of 2019 and you’ll find yourself humming and whistling it involuntarily. While her debut showed an artist growing from the bedroom pop that launched her, Immunity is one of the most assured but calming records of the year. Clairo has a big future ahead.
