10 Perfect Albums From 2019 To Chill To

3. Hot Chip – A Bath Full Of Ecstasy

Nostalgia was definitely a theme of established bands this year. But while Bat for Lashes and Metronomy went for the 80s, Hot Chip’s sublime album harked back more to 90s rave. And while rave might not seem like the best way to chill out and relax, Joe Goddard’s stamp on it means you could be floating away on your own little crowd rather than hurling glowsticks in a disused warehouse…

While no song on this album has had the radio exposure of earlier career highs like Ready for the Floor and Over and Over, A Bath full of ecstasy is fully of hybrids of earworms and ballads, with Hungry Child being a particular highlight.

A Bath full of Ecstasy manages to be something you could enjoy on a night out, while it’s comforting and homely at the same time. But you’d expect a band to be pretty good at what they do after 7 albums!
